Finance and democracy summer school.
London School of Economics and Political Science, 4-5 June 2026.
The LSE is hosting a summer school this June on finance and democracy, organised jointly by the Berkeley Program on Finance & Democracy, the Rhodes Center at Brown, and the European Institute and Huth Initiative for a New Political Economy at LSE.
Can finance be democratized? Why are states so scared of the bond market? Why are private equity firms seemingly everywhere? Finance is at the heart of the political economy of capitalism, but studying it can be difficult. The good news: some of the brightest minds in the field are eager to share their expertise. The goal of the program is to provide world-class training and build an intellectual community.
The program is fully funded and open to advanced PhD candidates, postdocs, and early career scholars in political science, sociology, history, geography, and economics. Applications (cover letter, writing sample, and CV) are due 1 March 2026. More information available here.
