Workshop: Women and Financial Advice

Women and Financial Advice Workshop.
Winchester Guildhall, 3 November 2018.


The Women’s Committee of the Economic History Society is holding their annual workshop at the Winchester Guildhall on Saturday 3 November 2018. The theme is ‘Women and Financial Advice’.

 

Women were involved in financial activities such as bookkeeping or dealing with credit networks. They might also be rentiers or manage money on behalf of others. This workshop considers women as financial advisors as well as the types of advice aimed at women in the past.

Speakers include: Janette Rutterford, D’Maris Coffman, Sheryllynne Haggerty, Helen Paul, Lucy Newton, Nicky Marsh, Jasper Kunstreich, Alision Daniell and Anne Murphy.

There will also be an optional short tour of Jane Austen’s Winchester by Professor Emma Clery.

The workshop is organised by Helen Paul (University of Southampton). All are welcome to attend.
