The Department of Global Studies at the University of California Santa Barbara is inviting applications for an Assistant Professor in Finance and Globalization:

Candidates will have expertise in the economics and politics of finance as it operates on a global scale. Candidates will study the globalization of finance and how finance has shaped globalization. Themes of particular interest include financial and sovereign debt crises; the effects of financialization on inequality, taxation, trade, the environment, and political institutions; and the connections between financial power and technology. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate students about how current and historical financial arrangements work in different settings, and how they shape interactions between the public and private spheres (including financial regulation and supervision), as well as between local, national, and global actors. The successful candidate must demonstrate capacity to guide graduate research involving multiple forms of quantitative data and analysis and to mentor across disciplinary lines.
